Hatchery Internships and Volunteers

Get a little fishy at the Vancouver Trout Hatchery!

The Vancouver Trout Hatchery through Columbia Springs offers placement for one to two unpaid Hatchery Interns throughout the year. Hatchery Interns assist with the daily operations and fish rearing of the Vancouver Trout Hatchery, this includes fish feeding, handling, recording, and planting in local lakes, as well as assisting with on-site grounds maintenance. This internship is ideal for students currently enrolled in a college or university who can receive internship credit for completing this internship.

In addition to the internship, there are placement opportunities for all volunteers interested in experiencing the work of a hatchery.  All regular hatchery volunteers are asked to commit to at least a four-hour shift every two weeks for no less than two months.  There are some limited opportunities for shorter volunteer commitments reserved for high school students looking to complete required hours.
