Field Trips at

Columbia Springs

Explore. Experience. Learn.

Our Field Trip Program is currently on hiatus due to health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus.  If you have further questions, please contact Jenna via email as we will not be in our offices to answer the phones. For activities to do at home, see our Resource Page.

Learning is at your fingertips, beneath your feet and all around you at Columbia Springs! We offer a variety of programs for elementary students at our beautiful 100-acre outdoor classroom. Programs connect with school science curriculum and allow students to see first hand the plants, animals and natural ecosystems that sustain our community.

Steps to schedule your group's visit:

1) Determine needs for your field trip:

  • Read the "New Teacher Packet"

  • Identify your ideal trip dates; have several alternatives in mind

  • Field trips are offered Tuesday-Friday, October-June (except January) with a limited number of summer programs available in July and August

  • You must schedule one program per group of up to 30 1st-6th grade students (pre-k & kinder groups have a max of 20 &25 students)

2) Browse our menu of programs:

  • If you don't see your desired topic below, you can contact our Education Coordinator to discuss a "special" program

  • $210 for a four-hour program per group; $150 for a two-hour program per group

  • All programs are 2 hours in length, except Eco-Explorers (4hrs); contact us to extend the length of a 2 hour program

3) Request a field trip:

  • By clicking the button below, you will be redirected to our scheduling page.

  • You will find a date on the calendar in green that is available and works with your schedule and then fill out a field trip request form.

  • Note: Dates are extremely limited. If you are able to come in the afternoon, you have much better chance of getting in!

4) Prepare for your field trip:

Annually, our field trip program:

Teaches over 6,000 students about the environment

Hosts 250 science and nature field trips in our 100-acre natural area

Requires the support of volunteers who give over 1,000 hours
