Volunteer in 2017!

Kick off 2017 by spending time in nature while giving back to your community! We have 3 great volunteer opportunities that you can get involved in this month.

MLK Day of Service (January 16, 9am - Noon)

Help us maintain our recreational and educational facilities while having fun! This welcoming and relaxed volunteer experience features projects of every kind: tree planting, invasive species removal, trail maintenance, construction, and more. We end the day with an activity; previous activities have included planting flower seeds to take home, weaving baskets from English ivy, building bird feeders, and guided hatchery tours.

Kids must be age 7 or older to participate. Kids under age 16 must have a parent/guardian with them to volunteer. Kids ages 16-17 must have a parent/guardian sign them in at the beginning of the event. While registration is not required, participation is limited to the first 30 participants. Those who register prior to the event are given priority. You can sign up by simply dropping us an email indicating your interest to: volunteering@columbiasprings.org.

Become a Volunteer Docent!

Join others in the community with a passion for stewardship and the natural world by serving as a site ambassador at Columbia Springs. Guide hikes, host outdoor activities and demonstrations, and connect with thousands of visitors each year at our 100 acre urban natural area.

All Docents are provided a FREE 8-week training detailing site history, local flora and fauna, fish rearing activities, watershed health, and education and outreach techniques.

Training sessions meet Saturdays, January 28 – March 18, from 10:30am-12:30pm.

To learn more about the program, check out the Docent Job Description and 2017 Training Schedule.

All are welcome to apply for the class of 2017! For more information, email volunteering@columbiasprings.org or call 360-882-0936 x224.

Become a Volunteer Lead!

Get outside, learn about our local ecosystems, encourage stewardship, meet others, and earn rewards as a Volunteer Lead!

Leads help with many aspects of Columbia Springs’ outreach, education, and environmental restoration projects. You’ll receive a two session training to ensure you have everything you need to thrive as a volunteer. 2017 training will take place February 1 and 2 from 6-830pm at Columbia Springs.

All are welcome to apply for the class of 2017! For more information, email volunteering@columbiasprings.org or call 360-882-0936 x224.
