Repair Café Coordinator Job Description
Repair Cafes are free, community events where skilled volunteers (fixers) lend their skills to participants who bring in their broken items for repair. Repair cafes reduce waste, conserve resources, save money, all while sharing skills and building community. The Repair Café Coordinator supervises Repair Cafe volunteers and provides direction, coordination, consultation, and recognition for Repair Café volunteer efforts. The Repair Café Coordinator also takes the lead role in planning, facilitating, and tracking public and targeted Repair Café events throughout Clark County.
Job Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned as appropriate)
Public and targeted events
Work with public venues (libraries, community centers, churches, etc) and community partners to schedule Repair Café events
Perform all planning, setup, takedown, and follow up for Repair Café events
Ensure events are sufficiently staffed with volunteers
Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend/implement changes as necessary
Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on Repair Café participation
Recruit qualified volunteers for various volunteer fixer roles
Develop training materials and provide training for volunteers on the logistics and expectations of Repair Café events
Keep volunteers up-to-date with Columbia Springs happenings and relevant Repair Cafe information through newsletters, social media, and individual communications
Maintain a schedule of all volunteer opportunities
Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service
Offer volunteer recognition and enrichment
Assess volunteer needs and feedback through frequent communication and annual program assessment
Outreach and partnerships
Conduct all marketing for Repair Café volunteer opportunities and events through press releases, social media, web, partner publications, public presentations to neighborhood and community groups, and outreach at public events
Target Repair Café marketing specifically to underserved communities
Maintain partnerships with event organizers
Search out community partnerships for new host venues for Repair Café events
Grant tracking and reporting
Maintain record of program stats, successes, and spending
Submit quarterly reports to Washington State Department of Ecology

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in education or natural resources and one year of relevant work experience in the field of environmental education; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
