Fix Leaky Rain Boots
Fall rain is coming, but a small hole or crack doesn’t mean your rain boots are done. A little Shoe Goo can seal many minor leaks and help keep a favorite pair in use.
Simple 4-Step Repair
Clean and dry. Wash the damaged area with soap and water and let it dry completely. Place a piece of duct tape inside the boot behind the hole to keep glue from dripping through.
Rough it up. Lightly sand around the damaged area so the adhesive has something to grip. Wipe away any dust.
Apply Shoe Goo. Spread it over the hole and about half an inch beyond the edges. For a smoother finish, use an ice cube to gently smooth the adhesive. Shoe Goo won’t stick to the ice like it does to your fingers or tools.
Let it cure. Remove the tape from inside the boot after about an hour, then leave the boot alone for at least 24 hours before wearing it. It will likely need to cure longer if it’s humid!
A small repair now can keep your boots dry through another rainy season and keep one more pair out of the trash.
