Forest Therapy Workshop

Join us for a guided Forest Therapy workshop at Columbia Springs! Experience a series of slow, mindful activities designed to open and engage the senses and connect you with nature in a way that invites healing interactions.

This relaxing experience is hosted entirely outdoors, rain or shine. We will engage in about a half mile of slow walking, and non-vigorous activity. Read an article written by The Columbian here!  Learn more about our instructor, Elizabeth Koch, and the practice of Forest Therapy, or Forest Bathing, here

There is a $30/person fee for this class. Registration is limited to 15 people per workshop, so sign up soon! Activities on both dates will be the same. Register by clicking on your desired date below.

Urban Foraging Workshop

Did you know edible plants grow ubiquitously in our urban areas? Some are the common ornamental plants we grow in our gardens, and some are the weeds we cannot get rid of fast enough. Urban foraging nerd, Eve Hanlin, began learning about these incredible plants while working as a gardener. She discovered an abundance of surprisingly delicious, free foods. The goal of this workshop is to teach how to safely identify and prepare these urban edible plants, and ultimately improve access to nutritious foods.

The first hour includes an introduction to the practice of urban foraging, safety considerations, and an overview of how to prepare some common urban edibles. The second half is a guided walk around the site. This walk provides a special opportunity to interact and study the characteristics of common edible plants found in Clark County and beyond. This fun and informative workshop will have its guests looking at their back yards in a whole new light.

There is a $10/person fee for this class.

Throughout a two hour excursion at Columbia Springs, speaker Tyler Hartlauer will guide participants through birding techniques, identification, and how you can take this fun hobby with you where ever you go!
