Workshops

Columbia Springs offers a variety of workshops on sustainable living, ecology, and other environmental topics led by local experts in the Clark County area.

Bird Ecology and Identification

Are you interested in learning more about the birds that live around us?

Join instructor Kori York at this two-part workshop series to learn about birds of the Pacific Northwest. These two classes will teach you how to begin your birding journey!

Both classes will include two hours of classroom learning and one hour of bird watching on our trails. You will leave with resources and birding software to use, knowledge on how to create a bird watching journal and information on when and where to find birds.

Bring your favorite Bird ID Book and binoculars! We will have some available to use. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be prepared to walk about 1 mile on earthen trails.

The fine print: These courses are intended for ages 12 and older. Younger children are welcome but be advised that the course material may not be suited for their needs. Plan on attending both classes. Pre-registration is required. Please consider making a donation to help pay for printing materials and snacks at the workshop.

Forest Therapy Workshop with Elizabeth Koch at Columbia Spring

Forest Therapy

Immerse yourself in a guided Forest Therapy Workshop! The smell of western red cedar, the sounds of wind, and the crunch of maple leaves below your feet. Experience a series of slow, mindful activities designed to open and engage the senses and connect you with nature in a way that invites healing interactions.

This relaxing experience is hosted entirely outdoors, rain or shine. We will engage in a mile of slow walking on earthen trails and non-vigorous activity. Please arrive as scent free as possible to maximize the ability of all participants to appreciate the amazing aromas of the forest.

Read more in The Columbian here!  Learn more about our instructor, Elizabeth Koch, and the practice of Forest Therapy, or Forest Bathing, here. All workshops are $30/person unless otherwise noted.
