What: Family Nature Festival is a celebration of the natural wonders of Clark County with help from a number of our partner organizations and skilled volunteers. This event is free with a $5 per child suggested donation (cash or check only).

 

Who will be there:

  • The Clark County Historical Museum will be teaming up with Pepper Kim to give you Flora and Fauna trivia with matching face painting

  • Learn about volcanoes with the Mount St. Helen’s Institute

  • Waste Connections will help you sort recycling to ensure you know how to recycle right

  • Enjoy kid-friendly crafts with New Seasons Market

  • Clark County Vegetation Management will help you pot native seeds and talk to you about why invasive species are harmful to our environment 

  • Meet Sammy the Salmon and make a button with the Stream Team

  • Fish and Wildlife will show you our hatchery fish and teach you about fish habitat 

  • Decorate your own reusable salmon tote bag with the Columbia Gorge Refuge Stewards

  • Learn about saving and sustainability with IQ for Kids

  • Master Composter and Recylers will teach you about composting with worms (11:15 a.m.)

  • Live folk music will be preformed by Family Mansion Band (12:15 p.m.)

  • Black Dog Hot Dog will be selling delicious hot dogs

  • Play naturally with Free Forest School

 

Activities hosted by Columbia Springs:

  • Apryl Corey will be giving a presentation about her favorite critter: Squirrels! (10:15 a.m.)

  • Jana Grote will be hosting a series of lawn games including Chain Links, Quick Frozen Critters, and more (every hour on the :30)

  • Edward Pollock and Angela Bristlow will be leading a guided hike to talk about the use of local plants (11:00 a.m.)

  • Katie Woollven will be leading a story and stroll around Heron Loop (1:00 p.m.)

  • Ellen Wilson will give a presentation on Owls (1:15 p.m.)

  • Volunteers will catch water bugs down in our wetlands

  • Find a pumpkin in the woods and take one home (limited availability) thanks to a donation from New Seasons Market

  • Enjoy our scavenger hunt to find painted rocks in the woods for your chance to win a raffle prize of a Build your Own Birdhouse kit

  • Buy a raffle ticket (1 for $5 or 3 for $10 – cash or check only) to win three board games from Kazoodle Toys
